The Institution was transferred to the system of Ministry of Health of Ukraine on November 11, 1991 with name “Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine”

According to the joint order of Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine №11/10 of 17 January, 1992 “Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine” was transferred to their dual subordination

With the establishment of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine on 24 February, 1993 the Institution was transferred to its subordination with name “Research Center for Radiation Medicine of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”

Since 1998 Research Center for Radiation Medicine has the status of center which collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) in the network of medical preparedness and assistance in radiation accidents

According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine № 1039/2011 of 11 November, 2011 the center was granted national status. Since that time, its full name is State Institution “National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” or in abbreviated form – NRCRM
